Traditional crowns for teeth (a cap over a tooth to give it stability and shape) usually took two office visits-  one to take a mold of your tooth and another to actually place the crown after an outside lab had created it from the mold. Now dentists have the option of utilizing CEREC technology. This device takes a 3D image of your tooth and shapes the crown on site in the dentist's office - meaning, now it only takes 1 office visit to complete a crown procedure.  * Crowns are a common part of many dental procedures.
