lower teeth are visible in your smile so shade matching is attempted to be as close as possible. multi-shaded crowns are doable since those crowns are layered or milled and the ceramics can be blended in a way that more accurately matchs adjacent teeth.
the back upper teeth are hardly visible at all except for those with huge smiles. also the biting surfaces or interproximal surfaces are generally involved in back teeth fillings and those are not noticable in smiles, so the need to match tooth color is attempted but not as much attention is given to perfecting the shade since those areas aren't really visible.
