Q:  What got you into this specific practice of medicine?
A:  What I liked about orthodontics was the 'holistic' nature of utilizing ones own biology to move teeth and improve function and esthetics.  It seemed more fun, less stress and happier for patients versus going to the dentist and having shots to numb and reconstruct their mouths.  I consider myself an 'oral engineer'.

Q:  What landed you in your city, and what is it that you like about the neighborhood?
A:  I was a practicing general dentist before I went to graduate school in the same county.  At the national orthodontic meeting, a supply rep told me of a small second office for sale in the town of San Ramon that just got incorporated a few years before.  When I came to San Ramon, I saw the potential for growth, good schools, near to where I grew up in Walnut Creek and got reacquainted with dentists whom I knew before I became an orthodontist.  That was 21 years ago.

Q:  What are the most challenging parts of your every day practice?
A:  The most challenging parts of the practice is managing patients/parents and getting them to come on time and cooperate with treatment.  An orthodontist needs to be the ultimate 'motivator'.

Q:  What investments in your medical practice equipment and facilities have you made?
A:  I have invested heavily in technology.  We are completely digitial since I purchased a digital cephlomatric/panoramic planmeca machine.  We also utilize Dolphin imaging for our photographs and Dolphin Acquarium, which is a series of diagramic/animated simulations of different appliances and treatment.  Of course our advance office computer system allows patients to receive phone and email reminders of appointments, access to records, financial info as well.

Q:  What 5 procedures do you feel your practice excels in above others?
A:  The five procedures I believe our office excels in is 1-Early/interceptive treatment, 2-non extraction therapy, 3-surgical/orthognathic, 4-Invisalign, and 5-complicated multi team approach, full mouth reconstruction adult cases.

Q:  What are the best moments that make it worth it?
A:  My favorite moments are when the braces are removed. That is a magic day.
