It depends. (Don't you love that answer!) If the tooth will fall out in the next six months and the cavity is on the chewing side of the tooth (not on the sides) you can wait until the tooth fall outs. However, if the tooth will be in the mouth more than six months I am concerned that the bacteria that caused the cavity in the first place will grow and spread. The bacteria could grow the cavity larger making the tooth hurt. The bacteria can also spread to other teeth and cause cavities in other teeth. It is not worth the risk to have cavities in adult teeth from neglecting baby teeth.
