Dr. Paul Abramson received his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and comes from a multigenerational lineage of medical doctors.  His Grandfather and Great Grandfather were physicians and surgeons in each of the World Wars and pillars of their community, inspiring him to follow in their footsteps.

Dr. Abramson is doubly board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and completed a Residential Senior Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at Dr. Andrew Weil’s Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.  He has augmented his skills with additional training in nutritional biochemistry, evolutionary and Paleo dietary approaches, osteopathic manual medicine, and medical hypnosis, and has a special interest and advanced training in travel medicine, hospital medicine, and house calls.

He has been a pioneer in the use of self-tracking technologies in medical care, blogging and speaking as The Quantified Doctor and developing our Quant Coach Program within My Doctor Medical Group.

Dr. Abramson is a member of the clinical faculty at UCSF, and on the medical staff at California Pacific Medical Center and Marin General Hospital where he maintains full admitting privileges.  He has also served as Chair of the Department of Medicine at Mendocino Coast District Hospital.   His unique training allows him to apply the most appropriate preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies from conventional and alternative medicine, using an evidence-based approach tailored to each person.

He is also a leader and consultant in health information technology and health privacy issues, holding B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.  Dr. Abramson consults for health technology companies and venture capitalists, and has held multiple community advisory and leadership positions.

Dr. Abramson has volunteered his medical services in Chiapas, Mexico, and has traveled extensively in Mexico, South America, Europe, and Southeast Asia from his home base in San Francisco.  Doctors throughout the Bay Area commonly refer patients to Dr. Abramson for travel medicine consultation, complex geriatric home care, addiction treatment and second (or third) opinions on complex medical cases.
