Sudden Blurry Vision

Hello, I was on my iPad and all of a sudden my eyes started to water a lot and I kept feeling like I had something in my eyes even though nothing was there. Then my vision went blurry and I couldn't put together any words on my iPad that was 2 inches in front of me. I can see the TV picture but anything close my eyes won't can't focus it. It's been a few hours and it hasn't changed. Im 21, got an eye exam done 4 months ago, he said my eyes are great. Not sure what to do.

Medications, pills or eyedrops, can cause loss of ability to focus. Besides seeing your eye doctor you may want to check with your primary care physician. Bring all your medications when you see him or her.
This is consistent with what is known as Accommodative Spasm. The best management is prevention. This may be accomplished with frequent breaks when doing any type of up-close task with intense concentration lasting more than 30 minutes.

There a a few things it could be. One is your eyes dried out and need lubrication. Also, many exams don't check near vision on young people. I would call them and find out if you were tested for accommodation. The eye muscles can get stuck in near position and won't relax.

Endometriosis, in rare cases, can cause an "acute, dilate pupil" also known as Adie's Tonic pupil. This abnormality mimics the effect of getting your eyes dilated by your eye doctor. Dilation will affect your near vision but not your distance depending on what your refractive error is. I suspect this is what is going on with you. Seek help from an eye care professional as well as your primary care doctor immediately.

Turns out there is a virus going around and I have a double eye infection and ear infection followed by some extremely swollen lymph nodes and 101 Fever. My eyes are red like pink eye and swollen and it's pretty gross! Lots of antiobiotics for me!

You need to see an eye doctor. Unfortunately your family physician may not have the proper equipment or knowledge to be frank to make the correct diagnosis. This may be a minor problem like a scratched cornea or something more serious like inflammation in the eye. Both conditions and other possibilities need proper diagnosis and treatment which is only possible by a full eye exam. All the best.

One possible condition is pseudotumor cerebri, due to increased cranial pressure. Mention this to your physician for appropriate diagnostic tests. Keep us informed.
Thank you! This morning my vision is a little clearer but not by much. I also have a pretty bad headache in the front of my head and where the back of my neck meets the scalp and I didn't have that yesterday. I went to my Eye Doctors early but sadly he was not in the office so I ha e an appointment with my family doctor in an hour.

Your problem is important mostly because it continues for several hours. Occasional watering, irritation, and blurriness can occur with unstable tear film or a spasm of the focusing system, but this is usually for only a very short period of time and can often be cleared by blinking. Focusing at 2 inches can be difficult but if you are having trouble even with your iPad a little further out, there may be a issue requiring attention. With this continuing you should call your eye doctor, explain the situation, and be seen by him/her as soon as possible.

Blurry vision lasting more than 30 minutes would be a concern. If pain is associated with it, even more of a concern. I'd recommend a visit to your eye doc minimally for a check - and possibly for what we call a cycloplegic refraction if all else checks out okay. Be well !
