4 Reasons Why Ask DoctorBase is the Most Efficient Way to SEO and Establish Your Brand Online

  1. Ask DoctorBase is a free service for patients on the DoctorBase platform - currently servicing over 6 million American patients of record.
  2. All answers submitted by healthcare professionals (you) are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute doctor-patient relationships. All patients must agree to this before using Ask DoctorBase.
  3. Our software and our Marketing Engineering staff review each answer and optimize your answers for keywords valuable to your specialty. It is a well kept secret that doctors (you) - not SEO consultants - are the ones who have the most valuable content prized by search engines. Ask DoctorBase "unlocks and optimizes" your content in the most efficient manner possible with today's technology.
  4. Finally, the doctor who provides the most popular answer - "the Featured Answer," gets an added benefit by allowing patients to write rave reviews about your expertise - reviews that are submitted to both Google and Google Local through our Preferred Data Provider relationship.

C diff

86 year old father with c diff, a fib & chf. 2 rounds of flagyll failed. Antibiotics have worn him out and I hate to give more. Currently giving turmeric & bentonite clay along with probiotics & s boulardi and diarrhea has improved significantly. Allopathic doc wants to put on vanco. I am hesitant as he seems to be improving at present.

Alinia far better than Flagyl for C diff, and better tolerated, and has anticancer properties as well. Most tolerate Alinia so well it is hard to believe it is such a powerful antimicrobial agent. Having said that you could just stick with the S boulardi with or without Alinia and deal more with the CHF than the C diff

May sound strange, but fecal transplant has been shown to be highly effective for c difficile. See this reference from the Mayo clinic. http://www.mayoclinic.org/medical-professionals/clinical-updates/digestive-diseases/quick-inexpensive-90-percent-cure-rate
If the Flagyl ends up failing the next medication is usually vanco. He is on the correct probiotics. As mentioned, fecal transplants have shown to be effective. You would need a gastroenterologist and maybe an infectious disease doctor involved in the care. The improvement is encouraging but your father has several serious medical conditions on top of the C. diff which can be a very difficulty disease to treat. He should be monitored very closely. He may qualify for home nursing visits through medicare which can help with the monitoring. Be very careful about dehydration with the diarrhea, but also consider you can go to far in the opposite direction with too much water making the CHF worse. Nutrition is also going to be very important including appropriate levels of protein to make his immune system as strong as possible. Don't hesitate to bring your dad to the ER if he becomes confused or has any other alarming symptoms. There is very little room for error at the age of 86. Best of luck with the care of your dad.

If he is improving on the current regimen it is reasonable to give more time and see what happens and save Vancomycin for the last resort.

In Homeopathic treatment subjective and objective symptoms are of enormous importance before prescribing. Every diseases characterised by name has slight variation in different patients and that changes the prescription. I would like to get the detailed set of symptoms from starting of the disease till present . This will help me in prescribing precisely.

Thanks

I would consult with a licensed naturopath. With those meds, you need to be really careful with herbs, even turmeric, as they can thin the blood even more. There is a ton of research on the efficacy of S. boulardii eliminating C. diff, and when that isn't enough, fecal transplants are showing very positive results. Find a licensed ND at naturopathic.org.
His meds definitely complicate things a bit. However, high dosages of Sac B from a very good nutraceutical company can help a lot w/ the c-diff. I would strongly recommend you see a local ND and/or do a phone consultation with one. This is a bit complex given the Rx meds and what can be given and in what amounts.

I am so so sorry about those bad side effects. Vanco again is just treating symptoms. C-Diff is not that easy to get rid of. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and if the company is not NSF certified, we won't know the active level of ingredients. Of course, the whole situation exists due to inflammation.

I would use Probiotic Eleven with eleven different strains of friendly bacteria. Pau d'Arco Extract to help with the yeast overgrowth, rebuild his immune system with some Chinese herbs (Trigger Immune), High doses of Silver Shield for the C-Diff. Silver shield is different from the average silver products on the market in that it continuously reactivates and keeps destroying, vs other silver products are destroyed as they destroy the bacteria/viruses. Also Silver Shield does not build up in the body/liver and is out of the body in 24 hrs. You can get these products through my website if you are interested. I pray he gets better soon:)
I agree that hawthorne would be indicated, as would fish oil, but he may need to get his INR checked if he is on coumadin.
