I also want to add that an audible cavitation or "crack" is not necessary to get a positive result from a manipulation technique. "Chiseled" is not a term I would ever use to describe a spine or anatomical or physical condition. It's highly likely you have a soft tissue response and guarding that is not allowing your joints to move very well and contributing to your painful condition. The level of pain is relative to the perceived threat that your body and brain experience. Terms like "chiseled" and "stuck" are terms that create apprehension and fear. Get out of bed, do some gentle movements and stretches (look up yoga for back pain on YouTube, do some gentle twists, cat/cow, childs pose), go for a walk, even if it's just for 5 minutes, and get a 2nd opinion. Your back needs to move and staying still in bed is not the best "medicine" for a painful back. I would recommend you see someone who can address the soft tissue dysfunction (muscle tightness & guarding). Good luck.

You may want to find a chiropractor that uses correct diagnostic terminology You are having serious low back pain and your vertebrae feel locked up. Your Dr.'s adjusting has not released your subluxation. Things to consider: Are the discs inflamed or wedged? Ice compresses can help.Where are the tight muscles and trigger points? Trigger Point Therapy can reduces hypertonic muscles and reduce pain. Are the bowels inflamed? Possible referred pain. There are various chiropractic adjusting techniques, Drop Table, SOT Blocking, Decompression, Find out who in your area has pain specialties. A good percentage of people respond to ultrasound and others prefer laser. Staying in bed is not therapeutic.Find out what movement you can do with out increasing pain and modify and increase your body's awareness.Once the pain reduces to moderate you can do exercises that strengthen and balance your body. Water exercise is therapeutic and takes pressure off your spine. Walking in a pool that is waist to chest high is good,

I must say that any doctor that uses a term "chiseled" when referring to a spine should not be practicing medicine. In 26 years of practice, I have never heard that term used nor think it is an appropriate term. There seems to be more to this than "just stuck" and if you have been in bed for 2 weeks now without relief (and bed is not the answer to resolution of symptoms), it's time to seek a consult from a spine specialist or doctor of physical therapy who has experience with these conditions. Good luck and hope you feel better.!

I'm afraid that 'chiseled' is a term I'm not familiar with. I would recommend focusing on antiinflammatories, gentle mobility, moist heat followed by ice. If the problem persists and you do not get a good answer for your doc, consider a second opinion. Imaging may be needed, but not automatically. Hope you feel better.

I have never heard the term "chiseled" used to describe any musculoskeletal condition. What did you do in the days leading up to the onset of this condition? Did you lift something heavy, sit in a car for a very long time, or anything else that may have caused spasm? Where exactly is your pain...localized, or radiating to other regions? Are the Rx meds helping? I rarely recommend bed rest for more than 3 days, even for the most severe conditions. You need to get mobilized slowly, and see a Board Certified Chiropractor or an Orthopedist.
Poor verbiage.

If there is an extremely high level of muscle tension here are some easy things to considering adding to your daily routine:

- Drinkt least 1/2 your Body Weight in Ozs of water per day (200 lbs = 100 ozs water)

- Natural Calm. It's a magnesium powder that helps muscles to relax if you are deficient in Mg, most people are.

- get a warm up in prior to seeing your doctor. Meaning a physical warm up to get you loose. You may reference the warm up section of this website: http://austinchiropractorlowbackpain.com

- Use the ASHA Therapy mat at night before you go to sleep and 2-10 mins prior to your doctor's visit. http://www.ashatherapy.com

Also, your back doesn't have to "crack" or cavitate in order for it to approximate successful motion. Your doc may just need a few more visits, switch the technique used, or you to implement the items listed above. Be good with a few base hits for now. The home run is coming.
Sorry to hear that your back is completely stuck and in major pain. You may not need to get your back cracked to get relief. Even though I am an Upper Cervical Chiropractor, neck, most of my patients come in with low back problems. While I never crack backs, people with major back pain often get fast lasting relief. It may be time to try a different kind of chiropractic.
It means nothing. It also means that after multiple adjustments the problem still exists. Muscle just don't tighten up, there has to be a reason. Your lumbopelvic mechanics should be looked at to figure out where the problem is originating. See a physical therapist and get it fixed.
Hi,

I've never heard that term used before. Perhaps your doctor was trying to describe the severity of your muscle spasm? Muscle spasm is an often common symptom that accompanies low back pain. Magnesium oil can be very effective for relief of this symptom. However, it's always best to consult your doctor first. If you've done that and are not satisfied I'd recommend you get a second opinion.

Good luck.
I've never heard of that term used. You may want to ask him for a real diagnosis.
