4 Reasons Why Ask DoctorBase is the Most Efficient Way to SEO and Establish Your Brand Online

  1. Ask DoctorBase is a free service for patients on the DoctorBase platform - currently servicing over 6 million American patients of record.
  2. All answers submitted by healthcare professionals (you) are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute doctor-patient relationships. All patients must agree to this before using Ask DoctorBase.
  3. Our software and our Marketing Engineering staff review each answer and optimize your answers for keywords valuable to your specialty. It is a well kept secret that doctors (you) - not SEO consultants - are the ones who have the most valuable content prized by search engines. Ask DoctorBase "unlocks and optimizes" your content in the most efficient manner possible with today's technology.
  4. Finally, the doctor who provides the most popular answer - "the Featured Answer," gets an added benefit by allowing patients to write rave reviews about your expertise - reviews that are submitted to both Google and Google Local through our Preferred Data Provider relationship.

high platelet count

my husband has had his first phlebotomy, due to high platelet (797), RBC, and WBC count. He felt better that day. The next day he was back to square one with all his pains. Is it normal to feel travelling pains throughout the body? He was told that he has PV, but his doc said the pains are not associated with PV. He is so nervous!

Phlebotomy is only going to help the high red count. It will have the opposite effect on platelets and could make them go higher. It's more important to know what he has based on genetic/molecular markers on his cells (i.e.: JAK-2, BCR-Abl oncogene) which can be obtained from blood but he may need a bone marrow biopsy.

38 years old is pretty young for this and he should have a complete eval carefully. Phlebotomy just doesn't sound right…...

I'm so sorry to hear that; ideally you need to see Hematologist as soon as possible, who will get full history, exam, bone marrow testing, and if needed further testing; pain may be from so many cause, bones from ischemia or hemorrhage, neuropathy, spine deposits causing radiculopathy, etc. wish him all the best.
Phlebotomy may have been done due to high Hematocrit , not for platelets. Usually a drug known as Hydroxyurea might be considered esp when Plt count is >700. Pain could be due to vasoocclusive ( thick blood causing slowing of blood), however other causes need to be ruled out. Aspirin should be continued and follow up with Hematologist for further investigations.
I'd defer to a hematologist.
