4 Reasons Why Ask DoctorBase is the Most Efficient Way to SEO and Establish Your Brand Online

  1. Ask DoctorBase is a free service for patients on the DoctorBase platform - currently servicing over 6 million American patients of record.
  2. All answers submitted by healthcare professionals (you) are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute doctor-patient relationships. All patients must agree to this before using Ask DoctorBase.
  3. Our software and our Marketing Engineering staff review each answer and optimize your answers for keywords valuable to your specialty. It is a well kept secret that doctors (you) - not SEO consultants - are the ones who have the most valuable content prized by search engines. Ask DoctorBase "unlocks and optimizes" your content in the most efficient manner possible with today's technology.
  4. Finally, the doctor who provides the most popular answer - "the Featured Answer," gets an added benefit by allowing patients to write rave reviews about your expertise - reviews that are submitted to both Google and Google Local through our Preferred Data Provider relationship.

Ask Dr. Molly if you have questions or want a personal session on how to best use Ask DoctorBase for maximum marketing impact.

Abdominal Cramps

I've been having minor stomach / intestinal cramps for about a week now. I've also notice that it appears that I have lost some weight. I've been going to the bathroom regularly and have haven't experienced any diarrhea or blood in stool.

People with acid reflux often need more stomach acid, not less. If food is not properly broken down by stomach acid, the food will start to ferment, and that causes bloating, discomfort and cramping. I suggest you start taking some good digestive enzymes, make sure you are eating a very healthy whole food diet with no processed or fast foods. See a holistic practitioner to find out if you actually have too little stomach acid and they can start you on some supplementation to help. It would be unusual to have any significant weight loss in just a week so that should be checked out, as well.
How much weight have you lost in the past week? Have you changed anything in your diet? Avoid dairy and see if that makes a difference. If symptoms persist, see your personal physician.

20 years old male with regular bowel movements: What's causing your acid reflux?

- Have you been struggling with weight issues, or an eating disorder with vomiting associated?

- Do you smoke, or use drugs of any type?

- Which medications are you on?

- Do you eat spicy foods, or lots of fried food?

If you say yes to any of the above questions, try to eliminate the culprit, and use a good demulcent (non alcoholic tincture) to soothe and coat the GI tract thereafter.

Now it could be that your stomach/intestinal cramps aren't related to your acid reflux, I'd say it could be due to anxiety/depression, or a food intolerance. Yes, a food intolerance can be contracted anytime, even if exposed to the same food for a long time. In either case, see a Naturopathic Physician and try an Elimination Diet.

This could be several things, especially since you already suffer from acid reflux. It could be something you ate, food allergies/sensitivities, parasites or some type of other inflammatory response. Eating clean (anti-inflammatory diet - no gluten, dairy or sugar - which will also help your reflux) and taking a healing probiotic like Florastor (available at your local drugstore and a better choice than acidophilus for potential food poisoning or parasites) should reduce symptoms. If not, or if you have recently travelled or gone camping (likely a parasite), I would get a stool analysis from your doctor, or from your local naturopathic physician www.naturopathic.org) and treat appropriately.
